The Central Bank of Ireland has published a consultation paper on the fitness and probity regime for credit unions. This consultation takes into account the recommendations of the Report of the Commission on Credit Unions. The regime will focus on improving governance standards at board and management level within credit unions and will be introduced on a phased basis, with transitional arrangements. It is expected that the first requirements will come into effect on 1 July 2013.
Interested parties are asked to comment on the public consultation by 1 March 2013. Responses to submissions received will be published on www.centralbank.ie
